Power in Pairs

The last three modules we've had have been aimed at honing our skills in the languages we're proficient in and molding them into a more generalized understanding to be able to become polyglots.

Pair programming is something I was first introduced to in my last year of school during our senior project. It was so much fun to team up with someone and really get a glimpse inside the inner workings of their brains. If you can't see a way into the next step they've got your back and take the wheel, and when they get stuck you're there with the solution. It's been great to work with everyone in this cohort a little more closely and really see how they approach a problem and where each one of us feels more confident. I really think each one of our personalities are beginning to shine through a little more and the bonding is great.

The most important part of programming is logic. It's very comforting to know that sometimes language doesn't necessarily matter all that much since syntax is really just a quick Google search away. Other times, syntax is almost as difficult as the logic itself (looking at you C++ and Haskell). But at the end of the day, if you don't know the logic then you really won't know what you're doing. Languages like Ruby don't seem so scary thanks in large part to getting the kind of exposure to them that's similar to doing a polar plunge. It's a lot of fun and working on these katas together has probably been my favorite part of this fellowship yet.
